The P.O. Zone

Each Month, the Principal’s Office (P.O.) provides articles of interest and “tips” for school principals.  The site is designed for easy navigation for busy administrators on the go.  Each article’s key points are summarized at the top of the article with a new section/table labeled “Key Findings” and “Put it to use.”   Information presented is based on recent, scholarly research conducted by leading experts in the field of education, many of whom work and serve at The Ohio State University.  In addition, the P.O. desires to obtain practical insight from those currently serving in school administrative positions and to provide a vehicle to share experiences and means of application of countless topics of interest to colleagues across the nation.

This month’s featured articles include research studies on the influence of peers on learning, reactions to competition, and some insights on bullies.  In our news section, we look at Ohio’s new grading system and the new quality core initiative.  We also explore recent research in the area of neuroscience and how we learn in our “Research News” section. Our “technology update” offers an interesting perspective on cell phones in the classroom.
