Monthly Checklist

A calendar of activities that helps principals anticipate what is next on the horizon.

November

Testing: Continue the review of the results of your state test results. Ensure that teachers have the time to collaborate on ways to meet the needs of all students based on the results.
Parent Communication: Prepare for parent conferences based on second quarter academic progress reports. Include test result reports, work samples and evidence of their child’s performance in all academic areas. Invite questions or concerns from parents.
School Celebration: Plan a celebration for the academic achievements to date. Show appreciation for all of the hard work before the Thanksgiving break.
Teacher Appraisals: Be sure to maintain a schedule of regular observations in order to meet the stipulations of the Master Contract.
Student Performances:: Review plans for holiday performances to ensure that they meet legal and district requirements.
Student Absences: Monitor student attendance and collaborate with staff on ways to improve attendance.
Interventions:: Plan interventions for students who are exhibiting behavioral or academic problems.

Checklists on the Go:

You can upload the Principal’'s Office monthly checklists to your iPod, PDA, or other mobile device. All files are available as text files, which should be compatible with most digital devices. Make sure you save the text files in a place that’s easy to find (for example, your computer’s desktop or the “My Documents” folder).

PDAs: Most PDAs can upload files using the default software that came with the device. For instructions on how to upload the files to your PDA, please refer to your instruction manual for your PDA’s software.

iPods: Your iPod must be setup as a hard disk; this can be done through iTunes. Apple has a great tutorial for setting up your iPod as a hard disk as well as how to upload the text files to your iPod after you’ve saved them to your hard drive (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2234).
