Professional Growth and Development
Goal: To continuously renew and extend knowledge, skills, and understandings essential to professional and personal efficacy.
Activities
- Continue active service as Board member for the Ohio Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.
- Continue as a mentor principal and facilitator with the Ohio Principal’s Academy for leadership training and awareness of performance standards developed by the Interstate School Leaders Licensure Consortium. More >
- Serve as a member of the committee to develop the Continuous Improvement Plan for district use and adaptation by individual schools.
- Continue to work with district technology staff to develop instructional schedules that optimize the middle school concept and personalize student learning.
School/Community Relations
Goal: To develop and maintain relationships with parents and community for two-way communication, active involvement, and support for student achievement.
Activities
- Meet regularly in such forums as PTO, Principal’s Advisory, School-to-Work, and neighborhood gatherings to discuss goals, needs, and concerns.
- Work with teachers to invite parent involvement in a variety of capacities throughout the school day: observer, volunteer, tutor.
- Plan and implement with parents community-based learning projects that engage students in challenging work with real-life applications.
- Collaborate with district personnel to promote community awareness and support for adequate school funding.
Staff Relations
Goal: To establish, model, and communicate high expectations for staff professional and personal fulfillment through continuous growth in teaching and learning.
Activities
- Provide opportunities and incentives for staff to pursue learning and leadership through school-based workshops and daily teamwork.
- Assist staff in furthering their own professional growth through National Board certification, Praxis training, individual professional development plans, and other opportunities.
- Communicate personally with every staff member every day.
- Use weekly News & Notes to inform, celebrate accomplishments, communicate expectations, and publish pending dates and events.
- Meet regularly with teams and team leaders/curriculum coordinators to share information and plan activities that promote student achievement and positive parent involvement.
- Allocate existing resources and seek additional resources through grants, PTO funds, and available Eisenhower money to continuously improve teacher effectiveness in instruction, assessment, and technology.
Student Relations
Goal: To maintain a school culture where students feel a strong bond with staff and peers dedicated to building empathy, personal integrity, and high academic achievement.
Activities
- Coach Eighth-Grade Power of the Pen team and collaborate with Seventh-Grade Coaches on Central Ohio Competition at Fenway Middle School for second year.
- Support Pride Power incentive program through participation with student committees, Honor Society, quarterly Pizza with the Principal luncheons, and Principal for a Day.
- Interact personally with students on a daily basis in halls cafeteria, and classrooms to develop mutual trust and respect.
- Coordinate proficiency intervention program for sixth-grade students during and after school.
